Cow’s milk protein allergy is very common in babies worldwide (2-5%) and incidence is on the rise. There are two main types – IgE mediated and Non IgE mediated.
The basic difference being that the test for Specific IgE antibodies for Milk in IgE mediated will be positive and will be negative in Non IgE mediated CMPA. The children with Non Ig E mediated allergy will grow out of their allergy quicker than the other group. Luckily this group is much more common.
