Every child with some teeth should be registered with a dentist. Teething usually starts at 6 months, but can be delayed in some children. Many children have never seen a dentist unless there teeth start getting caries and then parents take them to one, but it’s too late. Very often problem is prolonged bottle feeding and poor oral hygiene. Children are drinking too much milk and not brushing their teeth.
Brushing should start as soon as teeth start erupting, from 6 months onwards. Obviously, it’ll have to be very gentle to start with and will take 2 seconds, but is a good habit to develop.
Many children don’t loose their milk teeth and thereby the permanent ones, do not erupt in their correct position. They may need to be extracted by dentists to make way for the permanent ones. Some children may need braces or retainers to align them.
