Since October last year, we have seen many cases of “Covid toe” – a rash appearing on Covid patients’ feet even in the absence of other symptoms. Some children have presented with various rashes these days which have no other explanation. Some are like ‘allergic reactions’, some like a ‘viral rash’ and I have seen 2 children with severe eczema-like rash though they never had eczema in their life. Some children have been exposed to Covid in their classmates and friends but some did not have any contact; probably they contacted someone who was themselves asymptomatic. Most children never had any noticeable Covid symptoms like fever, cough etc. The toes are otherwise painless and not itchy. All blood tests have returned back normal and there is no treatment. Most should recover within weeks, if not months.
